Meet Meg!

Hey! I'm Meg, and it is so lovely to meet you!

First of all, thank you so much for taking a look around my website. Let me give you a bit of a back story to BAKED by Meg.

For as long as I can remember, I have loved to bake, my wonderful Nanny Joy was a baker, and not a weekend went by where I there wasn't either cakes being baked or cakes being eaten!

I never studied baking or cooking at school, I studied art and business, and quit college early because I got itchy feet and couldn't sit in a classroom for one more day!

From then I got several jobs in order to fund my weekend baking. I'd give them to friends, family and colleagues to enjoy, very much like Nanny Joy did. 

In September 2017, I moved from Wales, to Yorkshire to live with my boyfriend Harry. I stopped baking for a while as the job i had took up so much of my time. After a job change, the wooden spoon soon came back and i started baking weekly for Friday treats at work. This then lead to me getting my first Kitchenaid, Kevin!

There was no stopping me after that, I was baking brownies like no tomorrow, coming up with all sorts of flavours and creations. But then everything all went a bit strange. In March 2020, a global pandemic occurred. We locked down, and although i could still bake for work, i wasn't meeting my friends, or taking trips back to Wales, so i couldn't share new recipes with them.

Although i was still working through the lockdown, Harry's job was looking less and less secure. So to avoid redundancy, he applied for a job back home in Wales. When he was offered what is now a job of his dreams, I had a big decision to make. It was then that we decided to pack everything up, I left my job and we moved back in with my parents in Wales. Harry started his new job, and BAKED by Meg was born in September 2020. I took everything that i had learnt and started selling my brownies, blondies and other traybakes as postal treat boxes. Perfect for the lockdown situation. It was great! People were loving the boxes and telling their friends and family, and i started selling out each week.

 

It wasn't long before i was asked to make a birthday cake for someone, and I can't tell you how nervous I was, but i did it, and with every cake I learned more and more about cake decorating, and i now have a style that i love. 

Since the 'big leap' Harry and I bought our first home together, Harry is living his best life in his job, and my business is doing so well. I am making so many wonderful birthday cakes, and the postal brownies are still selling out, and i am SO proud of myself and what I have achieved. I can't wait to show everyone what's coming next!
